July 13, 2013<\/p>\n

It was a rainy morning when Dendog approached his bike. \u00a0With it’s new tire and shiny rear wheel, it called to him: \u00a0“Take me to Lloydminster”. \u00a0So we did.<\/p>\n

The rain stopped about 150 km into the ride and the temperature rose nicely from 7 C to 20 C by the time we got to the hotel. \u00a0Hot tub in the hotel is broken \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n

Of note, we saw 7 deer in two different groups. \u00a0The first three crossed the highway about 750 meters in front of us. \u00a0The second group of 4 were standing in the ditch walking towards the shoulder to cross the road. \u00a0Dendog and I went to the fast lane and slowed to a crawl. \u00a0He flashed his brake light repeatedly yet a silly car driver passed us on the inside totally oblivious to the deer that were about to step in front of her. \u00a0They were standing on the shoulder at this point. \u00a0My wimpy horn scared them back to the woods.<\/p>\n

My Lance Armstrong fashionable bike shorts helped today. \u00a0This is good. Thank you Lance!<\/p>\n

We saw what we think was a dead badger by the side of the road. \u00a0It doesn’t count for our wildlife viewing counts.<\/p>\n

I saw my third Super Tenere. \u00a0All of them have been blue. \u00a0Did not get to meet this one as he was on the other side of the highway just east of Edmonton.<\/p>\n

Despite the fact that it was an easy ride today, we are both pretty tired. \u00a0At one point during the ride, when the sky was blue and the road was straight for as long as we could see, I radioed Dendog and we agreed that the mountains were beautiful, but sometimes a straight road is awesome! \u00a0OK, we’ll likely be sick of them tomorrow.<\/p>\n

According to the original schedule, tonight we would be having dinner with Dendog’s sister-in-law in Juneau, AK and then we would race home. \u00a0It would have been great to see her, but that schedule was impossible! \u00a0Maybe next time \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Q1) Why does Dave always buy inexpensive sunglasses?<\/p>\n

Q2)\u00a0How many pairs of sunglasses will Dave go through on this trip? (current count is 2)<\/p>\n

We might actually see a sunset tonight.<\/p>\n
