Arizona 2024: Day 2: Terra Haute, IN: Fusion by any other name

Morning walk was up to the beach at Canatara Park. Day one into this trip and we can cross off a visit to a beach! A lovely 4km round trip. Once I returned I treated myself to a shower, might be the last one for a while at Mom’s RV Park and we hit the road at 0900. Showers at Mom’s are 10/10. Fresh linens are supplied!

Border crossing took 32 seconds. Welcome to America!

We chose to go the Port Huron->Lansing route rather than down through Detroit. You travel along highway 69 (Party on, Wayne) for many hours. Much nicer drive and only adds a few minutes. We passed through Flint but did not stop to fill our water tank. Then Mrs. Milddogs discovered there is a Costco in Lansing not too far off the highway. Ooooh, it’s going to be a romantic lunch today!

I don’t know what Ted Nugent has been up to, but there were 20 deer carcasses in the first 30 minutes we drove in Pure, Michigan. That’s crazy. Mrs. Milddogs kept counting but gave up after 60 or so. Hey, if you are squeamish about deer carcasses, put the blinders on going through Michigan. Maybe when the vultures get back up north they will clean up a bit.

We hit Costco, got some really cheap gas and stocked up on some foods and yet another discount hammock! My Garmin watch wearing hammock friends will be so jealous of this one! Back on the road we go! For lunch we had the Hot Dog / Soft drink special for less than $2.00 each. I am the king of romance!

We stopped at the Pigeon Creek, IN welcome center. It was SO nice. I wanted to have a sit down just to take in the ambience but I had left my phone in the van. No phone, no sit! Highly recommended stopping here!

Indianapolis, IN was a bit slow but we drove through at the beginning of rush hour. Is it ironic that the driving was slow in Indianapolis? The GPSs had a disagreement so Mrs. Milddogs had the route call. She made the right call. Was an otherwise uneventful drive to the Cracker Barrel in Terra Haute, IN. For dinner I had a mash-up (or is this fusion?) of Costco caesar salad and Cracker Barrel chicken strips. Did not eat it all. Probably 2 more meals in there.

Costco / Cracker Barrel Mash-up (aka Fusion)

Tonight we shall plan tomorrow and perhaps the day after. One thing for sure, we are going to Buc-ee’s in Springfield, MO tomorrow. We also have to solve the blanket problem. Seems we forgot some blankets and a significant cold front is going to hit us Thursday / Friday 🙁 Maybe we get a blanket at Buc-ee’s?

This is our home for the night.

Oh, Amy is doing just fine. She is settling in much faster than previous trips.
