UK 2026: Day 10: My Fair Lady
Location: London
Pretty good sleep last night. We got some rain but nothing major. There are nights where I am quite content to lay awake and just listen to the rain. I am not convinced last night was one of those. We overachieved on wake-up time which was a tad unfortunate as it gave us more time than needed to ready the RV but not enough for one last adventure. We had to turn in the RV at 10:15 and given my need for promptness that meant we should be there at 10:15.
It is our responsibility to clean the RV as best we can. We had mostly packed and cleaned. Of course we still had to empty the cassette one last time. Yup, I nailed it! A perfect record on this trip.
Shower time (reader feedback suggest this is one of our most popular features): Don’t. Just don’t go to this campground for the washrooms. If you go there, picture below is one you are in store for. I’m unsure if the spiders that fell down came from me or the shower room. Not sure what answer I prefer.

Once we were all done cleaning up and one last trip to the washroom we hit the road. We had to return the RV with a full tank of diesel. The fuel tank, not the water tank. Fuelled up we returned to Zoom Motorhomes at 10:16. Sorry for being late Pippa and Malcolm. RV handoff done and apologies provided, we hopped in our hire car for the trip to Waverley Station in Edinburgh.
We were there 80 minutes before our train so we called an audible, paid the fee and hopped on the 12:00 train which got us to London an hour earlier.
Our hotel in London is next to the Shard and London Bridge. Remember, the bridge with the towers is Tower Bridge, London Bridge is a normal bridge.
We got settled, had a shower and walked out amongst the hoard. We missed the Borough Market by 15 minutes so after a nice walk across London Bridge, we grabbed some takeout and headed back to the hotel. We are dealing with an injury so doing stuff in short bursts. Hopefully will be better tomorrow.

It was interesting to see 100s of people having a pint outside of the pubs. Warm partly sunny day must bring the publicans out after work. Or, maybe this is just everyday?
There are bakeries near our fort. I know where I am going in the morning!
Post dinner went out for a stroll around the neighborhood. Purposely went by The George as Google Maps indicated that it was less busy than usual. Well, there were many hundreds of people in the courtyard of the George all drinking a pint. Pubs here must have many, many pint glasses or maybe they just give them a quick rinse? Somehow we shall get to The George.

Must confess that it is really nice to have our own real bathroom for the first time on the trip. Our first hotel room, as you may remember, had glass doors and they did not close. In case we did not share that earlier, this is how we fixed that “feature”

Later on I’ll do an NC500 summary with some high value, some would say infinite value basedon the price, tips and tricks.
If you are ever in Scotland, and need a good RV and don’t want and fiddling about with “extras”, we highly recommend Pippa and Malcolm at Zoom Motorhomes This is not a paid endorsement.
Dear Scotland, we love you. We can accept your penchant for precipitation and a rather persistent case of “the wind”. Please keep being you and please let us return at some point in the future.
Much love,
Milddogs
