NS 2025: Day 13: Home: Cash only!

Well, the forecast lied a little. The rain did subside with just traces over night. Rather than the soothing sound of raindrops we had the alarming sound of thousands of acorns (not eggcorns) falling from the plentiful oak trees in the park. If you have not been, the park is well situated but perhaps a bit tired. We tend to go when it is at about 10% capacity, that makes it better 🙂

For the morning walk I headed out of the park through the locked gate (remembered to bring the key code this time!) and onto the multi-use trail along the river. Drummondville, like Levis, has done a great job having parkland along the river. I returned after 3.5 km so we could commence to packing up.

We weren’t really in a huge hurry to depart, despite our interest in getting home. Leaving too early means the boulangerie is not open yet and we may hit more Montreal traffic. We stopped at one of our favourite Boulangerie / Patisseries called (appropriately) Patisserie Boulangerie Ludovic. Sadly there were not any almond croissants but they did have chocolatines, croissant and baguette that was still warm. When you go there, and you should, note that they are a cash only business. I started eating my chocolatine right when we got back to the van. Amy felt some of it was hers.

We drove up the main drag of Drummondville to get some gas before hitting the highway. It seems that every third store is a sex shop. I’ll have to study the happiness level of Drummondvillians next time I am there.

Wonderfully uneventful drive through the rest of Quebec. We stopped at the first “en route” in Ontario and parked in the picnic area to have some kind of lunch. It was some kind of lunch! Baguette for me avec beurre. It was heavenly! I should have bought more, but then, I would just eat them.

We decided to take the Long Sault Parkway rather than that section of the 401. It was a nice scenic drive. Had not been on it in some time.

Oh, I missed the thing you all love me reporting on. We dumped our tanks successfully without incident yet again. We are on a winning streak! We left the tanks empty just in case this is it for the year for the van.

We arrived home and began the significant task of emptying the van and putting away all that stuff in its right spot (or at least the spot I picked for it and shall never see it again). More van cleanup to follow tomorrow. Once that was done (ish) we assessed the forecast, the current pool temperature and turned that heater back on. Thanks nature!

Overall this was a great trip. Good so see some new stuff. Good to spend time with family. Thanks for following along.

I’ll be taking a quick trip down to Sarnia, ON in the next few days to pick up offspring #2. A bit more driving, but will get to see some family and friends for really short visits.

Everybody have fun tonight!
