Prologue: Would you like some catch up with those fries?

It’s been a while. Seems we have / are going through a pandemic. Let’s take a moment to get caught up before we introduce the latest adventure.

Time to be painfully real. In September, 2020 we lost Dendog. 50% of milddogs and 100% my brother. It wasn’t COVID, but that didn’t help. Fuck you, cancer! It’s kind of like that picture I posted on the last day of our Alaska trip after we had parted ways in Espanola: ”where’s my brother?”. It’s like that many days now. Dendog was loved and admired by many. Wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle, coworker, friend and more. We all miss him. In hindsight, I am really grateful we made the opportunity to do our Alaska ride in 2013. We talked many times of “completing Canada”. Perhaps adding my son to the ride. But alas, we never got there.

Hobbies, they come and go: Here is a quick summary of the various hobbies and current status.

Motorcycles: All sold prior to pandemic. My son got his license. Would be good to road trip with him some day.

Catalina 30 Sailboat: Sold in 2021. After keeping the boat on the hard in 2020 due to the pandemic, we decided to attempt to sell it after we got it ready for launch. We would have been just as happy if it had not sold. But, after one day on the market, it was sold.

Hobie Bravo: Still sailing that around the lake as often as possible. Working from ”Home” gave some more opportunities cause of the zero distance commute. Don’t tell the Hobie, but I have been looking at other monohull sailing dinghies. Shhhh.

Mazda MX-5 Miata ND: Oh my, that was a fun car. Owned it for a year. Wasn’t super practical. To me, it was 95% as wow as riding a good motorcycle with less hassle and more safety. if you ever think about buying one, just do it.

Hello Miata
Goodbye Miata

And now the new thing that enables our next adventure.

2021 Winnebago Travato 59K. Yes, #vanlife. We picked this up in April 2021. We ordered before the pandemic price bumps had kicked in. We have been on one week long adventure so far and a few shorter ones. But the big adventure starts soon.

Mission: Arizona

Duration: 6 weeks

Plan: we don’t need no stinking plan, we have a van! #vanlife

Stay tuned, it starts soon!
